DXA Services
Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is an efficient, noninvasive, low-radiation dose measurement of bone mineral content (BMC), bone mineral density (BMD), and total body composition (fat and fat-free mass). It’s currently the most common imaging tool used to determine BMD for disease processes such as osteoporosis. DXA offers low-radiation dosing (1/10 of the typical chest X-ray), rapid scan time, and ease of use. These distinctive attributes make DXA widely popular in the clinical research arena especially in trials employing bone density as a safety or efficacy endpoint.
DXA Services at CoreLab Partners
Our comprehensive DXA quality assurance program includes centralized DXA analysis in a rigorous, quality controlled environment with secure Internet transfer of image data. In addition, we oversee instrument quality control with extensive training and qualification of site DXA operators. CoreLab Partners’ processes are backed by innovative technologies and dedicated project teams with broad scientific, clinical, regulatory, and technical expertise.
CoreLab Partners’ robust DXA manager (DXM) platform accepts and processes all patient scans, and readies them for QC, review, and analysis using leading DXA manufacturers’ software. The DXM extracts the analysis and consolidates the results from all manufacturers into one secure, scalable Oracle database. Best of all, it’s integrated with RadSTARTSM - CoreLab Partners’ proprietary technology solution specifically designed to track, manage, and report on digital medical image data. RadSTART provides custom and standard real-time DXA reports that can be accessed at any time, from any location, via our secure sponsor portal - Coreview. Integration of these advanced technologies, coupled with proactive monitoring of data transfers, translate into invaluable time and money saving efficiencies.
